Weekly Inspiration#2

Hut Weber: Hitler vs. Chaplin

 http://www.youthedesigner.com/2011/07/08/56-minimalist-print-advertisements-thatll-make-you-think/

This set of minimal ads is worth taking a look for their simplicity, yet powerful messages. Hopefully after taking a good at several of these simple print advertisements, you will find that simplicity works just as well, if not, more so, as a design with overwhelming details that catches the attention of the target audience. Maybe this will help boost your creativity when you're given a project with the objective to create a work of simplicity, while at the same time, have a great deal of meaning behind your message. Take some time to look at these, for in the long-run, you may regret the fact that you could've saved loads of time while working on a big project, if you had JUST taken a few minutes to look at this post.

Observing your surrounding as Type — Andrew Byrom

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmhuWNO_VZU

I thought it was very inspiring to see that this designer took 'creating type' to a highest degree. He simply observed the world around him and imagined to himself how it would be viewed as a typeface. He did an excessive amount of research on the materials he had observed and played around with the idea, and made interesting looking typeface (turned products). One of his products were just used as a furniture design exhibition, and a new idea was given to him from a random stranger commenting on his work. This run-in with the stranger proves how you need to see your work through other people's eyes and hear out their opinion on your work, because judging your own work isn't very progressive considering it's created by yourself, so you will more than likely be satisfied with it to begin with.

Infographic Project 1b Comp

This is the design to my infographic on the topic of Academic stressors that College students are faced with. I decided to use a Scantron to symbolize one of several academic related materials that may cause traumatic stress to College students. This is just a rough idea, but I plan on playing around with the design a bit more.

...You can see that there are alot of negative spaces that look awkward, but I will try to figure out what to add into those empty spaces to make it more appealing to the eye.

A new Infographic topic

I decided to turn away from my last infographic topic and choose another one that comes somewhat close. I decided to find research on college women who are being held back from realizing their greatest potential, such as stress, depression or possibly stereotypes. It is an issue that must be heard because there needs to be more important women figures out there to inspire the next generation to come. And so, I found these statistics.

Yet another infographic!

I have decided to do an assessment at the library at CSUN on each floors excluding the 1st floor to see how effective students are using their time....I will observe to see whether they are sleeping, chatting or ACTUALLY working at the cubicle sections.

Unfortunately, I could not get the statistcs yet, BUT...I will be observing between 2-4PM today and take advantage of the time away from class...hopefully that's all that matters.

Infographic Revised

I have made a great deal of changes to my infographic and had put a little more thought into it...This time around, the poster isn't being overly busy with illustrations of little men and women filling every corner. I tried to use the topic and the usage of the variety of charts along with it.

3 creative infographics

This is the link to the first infographic I found to be well organized:

http://www.princeton.edu/~ina/infographics/starbucks.html

...I immediately thought the information given through this infographic to be well-sorted out. For both bean shops and fast food restaurants discussed, the designer used scaling of shapes to show the amount of stores by each country, whereas the bigger shapes symbolizes larger amounts, while the smaller ones symbolizes that of smaller amounts.

I especially like this infographic for its use of compare and contrast between the two subject matter:

http://awesome.good.is/transparency/013/transparency013burningfuel.html

...The use of side-to-side comparison is a good idea definitely. The designer made good use of the idea of parts within an automobile and a human's body. Being able to compare the intake of these two subjects and using the term 'calories' in a creative manner was what caught my attention.

Now, this next infographic is very easy to understand and also very creative:

...The use of a variety of graphs creatively, as well as the simplicity seen throughout this design, was what led me to continue reading the entire thing. Having the text put over a black background makes it very easy to read through the infographic in a consistent flow as well.
